High standards protect you from low quality experiences Share on XHave you ever visited a hotel, restaurant, or place of business that provided you with top of the line service and was sparkling clean? The reason you had such a wonderful experience is because the owner of the business and the employees have high standards for customer service.
We all have standards in many aspects of our life. The problem with many women these days is that often they set their standards much too low or they simply haven’t set solid standards for themselves at all.
Drifting through life with low standards can be dangerous to your overall well being as a person. If you aren’t careful, having low standards leaves you vulnerable to low quality experiences. In today’s post I’m going to detail 5 important reasons why you should set high standards for yourself and for other aspects of your life.
1.High standards protect you from toxic people
When I had my children I decided to weed out many people in my life. The reason was because I wanted only high quality people around my children. People who were strong, happy, healthy, positive, and supportive.
Because I had my children young, I had a large network of friends from partying. But over time, I was grateful that I removed most of those people from my life. As it turns out, many of them became low quality people. Some of them even became criminals.
I never had to worry about being caught up with any of that because I removed all of those people when it was time for me to be a mother. I know in my heart that the biggest reason why myself and my kids live a healthy and positive life is because I only surround myself with beautiful people. Here are the types of toxic people I don’t allow into my life anymore.
2.You will thrive in your career
If you are working at becoming more successful in your career, having high standards for yourself and your place of work is going to be very beneficial to you. You know your worth, you will not tolerate mistreatment, and you are prepared to move on to a different company if you don’t receive the pay that you are worth or if the environment is toxic.
Additionally, you are a high quality employee or business owner because the standards that you have set for yourself and your work are very high. You want to be respected and that’s ok.
3. High standards protect you from low value men
Men will only treat you the way you allow them to treat you. You get to decide what kind of relationship you are in. By having high standards, you are ensuring that you have a healthy, positive relationship. You are able to identify when a man is not treating you properly and you have the confidence to let them go because they are not reaching your standards.
I think some people confuse high standards with being high maintenance. High maintenance means that you need a lot of things done for you to make you happy, high standards means you expect to be treated with respect and love at all times.
4. You will have more confidence and self esteem
When you know you are holding yourself in the highest regard and requiring others around you to be on your leve, it makes you feel confident, powerful, strong, like you can take over the world. It makes you feel more secure with yourself because you know you are constantly protecting the energy around you.
5.People have a lot more respect for women with high standards
It should be no surprise that people are watching how you behave, how you treat others, and how you treat yourself. People have a lot more respect for a woman with high standards. There will be some people who are intimidated, but that is a result of their own insecurity.
Have you ever watched trash tv? Like the Maury show or Jerry Springer? I’m sad to admit that I used to watch these shows all the time but one thing I learned from those shows is that the reason why these people had made it on tv for making a complete fool of themselves is because they have basically no standards for the way they live.
As a result, the audience and people watching from home have absolutely no respect for these people. They see them as a form of entertainment and nothing else.
*Storytime*
Once upon a time, I used to have low standards for my outward appearance and would occasionally step outside of the house in actual pajamas. I actually did this for quite some time until I decided to have some standards for the way that I looked when I went out.
Do you want to know what happened? People started complimenting me all the time saying “you look so nice today” “your outfit is so pretty” “you look amazing.” People started treating me differently, respecting me more. It was a night and day difference. I actually have an entire podcast episode about what happens when you become well dressed.
And then I lived happily ever after

Conclusion: Having standards will help improve your quality of life.
If you are struggling with setting higher standards, I recommend you evaluate your life and decide how to create standards that will take you to the next level. Again, people will be intimidated, and insecure people will even become annoyed and upset.
Classy women carry themselves with confidence and grace because they hold themselves and others to a high standard, creating an energy around them that is captivating. Taking the time to create high standards will help you take your life to the next level.
