Spring TBR

Flowers are blooming, the days are longer and the animals are coming out to play. Spring has finally arrived and I couldn’t be more excited.

Because I am a seasonal reader, I like to read books that match whatever is happening in the world at the current time. All of these books that I’m listing are books that are perfect to read in the spring.

You will want to add these to your reading list immediately.

Tokyo ever after by Emiko Jean

It has been a long time since I have read this book, but I remember liking it so much that I wanted to purchase a copy to donate to my library so other people could enjoy it as well. It is about a girl who lived her life thinking she was just a regular person. One day, she discovers that her father is the prince of Japan. She ends up flying to Japan to visit her father and finds a whole new life there. It’s a modern fairy tale and perfect for Spring.

spring books to read

Floriography by Jessica Roux

Did you know that in the Victorian times, flowers were used to express feelings that were not socially acceptable at the time? They became this sort of language that people used to communicate.

Floriography dives into various flowers and their meanings. This is a fun read and makes you put more thought into the flowers that you purchase for friends and family.

Butterflies

This is essentially a coffee table book filled with gorgeous photos of butterflies. What better way to soak in the beauty of spring than to dive into a book filled with butterflies. I found this at a bookstore and couldn’t resists. Once I got the chance to read it, I realized that its a fun book to look at. The photography is impeccable. Highly recommend.

Shady Hollow by Juneau Black

This book is absolutely perfect for spring. It follows a community of woodland creatures that all coexist…until one of them is found dead. The rest of the animals must come together to figure out who the killer is.

This book was refreshing and perfect as a palette cleanser after reading lots of romance books in a row. Not one of my top books of all time, but still worth checking out.

Thumbelina by Hans Christian Anderson

I’ve been reading Thumbelina since I was a little girl. Then I started reading it to my children. I love fairies and they are synonymous with spring in my opinion. Thumbelina is a story about a tiny little girl no larger than a thumb. She lives quite the adventurous life and it’s a short story.

The Stand-In by Lily Chu

I always saw this book on the shelves at target but honestly forgot to check it out. One day I found it on my reading app so I gave it a go. Who knew I would enjoy it so much? It is a story about a celebrity woman who hires a body double so she can occasionally have some peace in her life. We follow what happens after that. Loved it.

You Should Sit Down For This by Tamera Mowry Housley

As someone who grew up watching Sister, Sister on Disney Channel growing up, I knew that no matter what Tamera’s book was about, I was going to read it. I read this the moment it came out a couple of years ago and I still think about it often. It is refreshing and Tamera is just sharing tips and stories. The audio books feels like you are talking to your best friend.

Annie Bot by Sierra Greer

I couldn’t put this book down. I love sci-fi books but some of them are too complex for me to try to get into. This is about a robot that starts having human emotions. It’s a fairly quick read and although the ending wasn’t my favorite in the world, it was a good experience overall.

Splendid by Julia Quinn

Julia Quinn is the author of the Bridgerton series. If you’ve watched the show you will love this book. Now that there is a show, it makes it much easier to visualize the book and it made my experience better.

I couldn’t put this book down. It was a fantastic spring read with romance and the regency era vibe.

A song to drown rivers

This Book.

This book is one of the books that didn’t hit me until I finished reading it. I kept thinking a bout it. I still think about it.

The best way I can describe this books is an adult version of Mulan. And I loved Mulan as a child.

It is about a beautiful woman who has to become a spy and marry the King of the enemy so they can defeat him. We follow her story and it honestly…was better than I was expecting.

This is a story that will stick with me for a very long time. I do have to say that it was a slow burn in the beginning and I definitely lost interest a couple of times and then came back to the book. It took me a long time to read but now I want to read it again.

Quicksilver

Another slow burn. This book I did completely give up on because I felt like the beginning was slow and drawn out.

But when this book picks up?

It becomes hard to put down.

This is a romantasy book and honestly I would have a hard time describing what the story is about because it was so complex and I was mostly focused on the romance part.

If you are looking for a romantasy, this is always a good idea.

What are you planning on reading this spring? Will you add any of these to your TBR? Let me know!
