How to have a fairytale spring: Cottagecore inspired.

Last Spring I visited more gardens and wore more dresses than I ever have. I was in my feminine energy all season long and it was very fulfilling. I felt like my life was straight out of one of the storybooks that my mother used to read to me when I was little.

It inspired me to share with you exactly what I did to live a fairytale spring so that you can add some of these into your spring plans. I am looking forward to warmer weather as we have had snow on the ground since the beginning of January.

1. Surround yourself with flowers

I did a lot of research and found as many gardens as I could find that were within a couple of hours from my house. I wanted to spend a lot of time outside and gardens bring me a great deal of joy.

Luckily, I live an hour and a half from Washington D.C. so I was able to take a trip down there to see some gardens as well.

I practiced mindfulness when observing flowers. Paying attention to their shape, fragrance, color, and how their petals felt on my skin. I did my best to stay present in the moment

I also spent a lot of time photographing flowers so I could use the images as art in my home during the spring time.

Here’s a beautiful photo I took of Forget-me-nots. These are one of my favorite flowers.

When I wasn’t outside with flowers, I was busy creating beautiful flower bouquets at home. I like to listen to elegant music while I cut and arrange the flowers. It is a hobby of mine that I really enjoy during the warmer months.

Creating bouquets is a great way to get creative and to make gifts for people you love. You can also use them as displays when you are entertaining.

2. Play with baby animals

Fairy tales almost always involve animals. Baby animals are the most adorable parts of spring. My neighbor used to raise bunnies and always had babies in the spring. I also went to my best friend’s house one day and she took me to see baby goats. I have a tractor supply right next to my house so it is also very easy for me to see the baby chicks. They make the most adorable sound

At my local park, there are geese that always have babies in the spring and they swim around the pond together. It’s adorable.

If you don’t have access to baby animals the way I did, try visiting a farm or even a zoo. You can also get a bird feeder and hang it in your yard. It was a big hit for us and attracted all sorts of adorable birds.

3. Have picnics

I had several picnics last year and enjoyed each one. Because it isn’t too hot in the spring, it is the best time of year to have picnics or eat outside.

Some of my picnics were elaborate and feminine, the other picnics were me picking up takeaway and eating it at the park. If you don’t have time to make it fancy, don’t worry about it. Just do your best to eat outside at least once this spring.

4. Wear dresses as often as you can

I spend most of my time in dresses during the spring. Even when I’m hiking, I try to wear a hiking dress or skirt.

I also wore dresses in the house during the day. It actually made me feel like a princess because Disney is notorious for having their princesses do house chores in dresses. I also spent most of the spring season wearing any color except for black…unless it had a floral print.

5. Listen to beautiful music

I love listening to classical music and piano solos. It’s calming and makes my life feel simple and beautiful, especially when I am out on a walk and the weather is nice. Switch out your normal music for classical and see how it makes you feel.

6. Visit the farmers market

Always take time to shop local, no matter what season it is. I love visiting my local farmers market in the spring. They have lots of flowers as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. Every spring, I make my rounds to all of the local markets and try to find a new one to visit each year.

7. Pick berries & bake with them.

Spring is the season for strawberries. Find a farm near you that has strawberry picking. It is a lot of fun and much more satisfying when you get them fresh. Once you get them home, wash them and bake delicious treats with them.

8. Host a tea party or visit a tea room

If you are looking for an excuse to dress up and be feminine, a tea room is the perfect place to start. All of the tea pots are different, and the food is always very delicious.
