The best books to read this winter
What is your ideal winter evening? The sun sets early, it’s cold outside and there isn’t much to do. My favorite thing to do during the winter is read books that have a winter/snowy setting.
There is nothing better on a snow day than drinking hot chocolate and getting lost in the perfect story.
In today’s post, I’m sharing my favorite books to read during the winter! You’re definitely going to want to add these to your kindle!
The Snow Child
This book is slow but very atmospheric. It is about a couple who live in a secluded area where it is cold a lot. They are unable to have children but they always wanted one.
One day, the wife builds a snowman. The next day, the snowman is gone and there is a child at their house. The story goes from there. Although it is slow and there is a lot of dialogue, I enjoyed it!
A Winter in New York
love this book. It was a quick and light read, perfect for a palette cleanser if you are in between reading books that are more complex.
Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney
This books was a fun read for me. It’s about a married couple who are experiencing trouble with their relationship. They head to a secluded cabin in the woods during a snow storm to reconnect and try to save their marriage.
Things start going from bad to worse, and the twist in this was fun!

Tempt Me by Nina West 18+
Set in Alaska in the winter
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
I’ll never stop recommending this book. I read it a long time ago and it really has stuck with me. It is about a woman who is feeling down about her life and finds her way into a library that is very unique. Every book in the library is about her life, and I don’t want to give away too many details, but it is worth the read if you are feeling stuck in your life.
The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse
I read this a few years ago when I discovered it from the Reece Witherspoon Book club because everyone was raving about it.
Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down. I wasn’t too impressed with the ending, but I really enjoyed the read. Some books are like that.
It has a snowy, winter atmosphere that is perfect to read with a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter day.
