2018 Resolutions
My 2018 Resolutions
Laugh More
It has always been said that laughter is the best medicine, and that is something that I truly believe. I absolutely love laughing. And this may seem super weird, but I don’t feel like I laughed enough in 2017. I know that sounds crazy, like who keeps track of how much they laugh??? Well, I guess I do. In 2018 I want to laugh my ass off. Because it’s healthy. I plan on posting regularly this year about the memes and things on the internet that make me laugh. Maybe they will bring a smile to you as well.

Get designer makeup/wear lipstick once a week
Before I had my kids, I spend my evenings in front of the mirror with my besties doing out makeup for a night out. I practically lived at the MAC counter and only used name brand makeup. After I had my kids, I spent less time getting dolled up. I eventually switched from MAC to Covergirl makeup and called it a day. I was tired of having to drive an hour from my house to the closest Nordstrom and it was just easier to go to the drugstore for my beauty needs. It’s been 8 years since I’ve had kids and all of a sudden I’m just getting back into loving to get dolled up. I guess I just lost interest for a while and now I’m back! I really want to try the Georgia Armani Luminous Silk foundation, a favorite of Stars like Kim Kardashian and Gal Gadot. I also want to try out more blushes and lipsticks. When I try the foundation, I’ll totally do a review because I’m dying to know what the buzz is all about.
I hate wearing lipstick. I really do. It’s so pretty but it is just a disaster. It gets on your teeth. it gets on whatever you eat or drink, some lipsticks dry out my lips. ugh. I call it a necessary evil though and I would love to start wearing lipstick at least once per week. It boosts confidence and makes me feel more put together.
*I definitely haven’t worn lipstick once per week at all this year. In fact, I don’t think I’ve worn any lipstick at all.
Order my wedding dress.
If you read my how I changed my life in 2017 post, you would know that my husband and I had a quick wedding at a bed and breakfast so we would have more time to plan our wedding. Well, we have procrastinating long enough and I think it is finally time to start putting a wedding together. I found the dress of my dreams on Pinterest, and I also found a custom bridal dress maker who will make it from scratch just for me. This process will take about 6 months, so I don’t expect to to have a wedding until 2019, but I really, really want to order my dress. I will be staring a wedding series every Wednesday, so stay tuned!
OMG! I ordered my wedding dress in February and received it mid-July! It’s absolutely gorgeous and our wedding is just 6 weeks away! I can’t wait to share it with you guys! Catch up on my wedding shenanigans HERE!

Learn to lucid dream
This has been on my list for a very long time. Lucid dreaming if you don’t know, is when you are aware that your are dreaming in your dreams, and then make conscious decisions in your dreams. I would LOVE to be able to become lucid during a dream, and make myself study french while i’m dreaming. I have tried to become lucid during dreams in the past but I find it very very difficult. I have only become lucid one time and I wasn’t able to control my dreams. I was only able to be aware that I was dreaming.
Grow my hair
I have struggled for years to grow my hair. I am really bad at trimming it regularly because I dislike getting my hair done, I see it as a chore. Because of this, I only get my hair trimmed once per year and by that time all my ends are split because I neglected to trim it. I am off to a good start this year though, I have already made my 8 week trim appointment which I’ve never done before. As long as I stick to it, I am hoping my hair will grow. I want it to grow about 6 inches longer. I’ll be tracking my progress. So i’ll let you all know how it goes. I would love for it to be super long and healthy for my wedding day. That is the goal.
My hair has grown SO much! I absolutely couldn’t be happier! I am SO excited that it is almost at my desired length. I have wanted this for so long and I never was able to achieve it. I will be sharing my hair photos very soon! But for now, here is a post of my hair care routine for my curly, bi-racial hair

Learn to do my hair
I have great hair. It is very versatile and easy to work with. But I absolutely suck at/ hate doing my hair. I spend about 30 percent of my life on Pinterest looking at gorgeous braids, voluminous curls and super sleek styles, but I just don’t have the patience to try to learn how to do my own hair. It took me several months to master a basic blowout, and even that I hate to do. My daughters both have fabulous hair as well and I feel like I don’t put enough effort into styling it. I’m going to change that.
I have been practicing on my daughters and myself and I have learned to do a couple of braided hairstyles! It is hard to do them on myself and my hands do get tired because my hair is so long, but I am happy to say that with a little bit of practice, I was able to teach myself! It saves so much money from the salon.
Learn to speak and understand French
I have been learning French for about 3 years nowI started out with children’s flash cards and worked my way to basic vocabulary books. Then I moved up to basic kids vocabulary books and then an adult vocab book. I’m off and on with my learning and would like to become very consistent. I remember being so happy with myself when I was at the airport and I overheard someone talking in French to her husband and I could understand what she said! That means I’m going in the right direction. I explain a couple of the tools that I use to learn French in my other post: 5 apps I’ll be using in 2018.
Monetize my blog/ make passive income
I have been blogging inconsistently for like, 4 years. I deeply regret not being consistent with it because I feel like I have missed out on some extra income. I didn’t realize how much people were making from their blogs, and since I have an unhealthy addiction to the internet and blogging, I think this is definitely the right path for me. I would love to start making at least $1,000 per month with my blog. I think that is very doable if I work hard. This is a fun challenge, because If I can make it happen, I will definitely share my tips with you, perhaps we could all start making extra cash!
I really want to start making money while I sleep. Passive income is the way to go these days and is easy to do if you have a good blog. We will see how it works. Right now, I have made $ .10 from my blog. I just started with affiliate links about a week ago. So I’ve got a long way to go.
I haven’t made tons of money, but I have successfully monetized my blog without using sites like Bluehost or ads on my blog. I really want to keep my blog ad free. I know tons of people make a healthy income from ads, but I think they would take away from my amazing content. I am happy to say that I have been able to pay some bills with my blogging income! Read about it!

More yoga
I used to do yoga with my kids every single night when they were little. Over time we slowly fell out of routine for like 2 years. Well, now my 5 year old, Zoey, is really into yoga. She loves doing the P90X yoga dvd (even though it is SO advanced) she tries her best to do it. She loves trying new poses and things like that. For Christmas I got her a beginner yoga dvd and we are looking for a new yoga mat for her. I would love to start doing yoga every day like we used to.
Better Skin Care
I will be 28 this year and my skin is starting to reflect my age. I am starting to get wrinkles and I am one hundred percent NOT okay with it. I am literally mother Gothel from Tangled. Looking old TERRIFIES ME! I would love to try the red carpet facial, and the hydrafacial. I really just need facials that are going to clean my skin and more importantly moisturize so my wrinkles do not begin to show more. They say if you are trying to correct your wrinkles after you have them you are already too late. Sigh. These facials cost a lot of money and I don’t live close to any places that offer them so I am going to have to do some research and find a good place to go.
What are your goals for 2018? Let me know in the comments! I love hearing from you.
xoxo, Victoria
