Starting my Fitness Journey
So…quick fact about me. I’m super lazy.
Not too lazy to clean my house, or anything like that, I am extremely lazy when it comes to fitness. I really loathe doing anything that requires strenuous physical activity. I don’t like pushing my body to the limit and I don’t like working out or doing anything remotely close to that. Well I didn’t anyway.
This was partially because I was struggling with not being able to gain weight.
Before I had my kids I always maintained a certain weight and never had any issues. Once they were born, I started losing the baby weight-and then some. My stomach was flat, I looked cute in a bikini, but I wished I could gain more.
I’ve always been confident in myself and my body but I knew that I needed to gain weight. I tried SO hard! Changed my diet, went to a professional, etc. But what I didn’t know at the time was that I was burning too much energy at my job to keep weight on. I was a nanny and spent my time looking after 5 kids 45 hours a week-it’s harder than you think.
Long story short, I’ve been a stay at home mom for the last year and slowly I have been putting weight on. It didn’t really hit me until one by one my clothes weren’t fitting.
It’s awesome that I have gained weight again but now I have the opposite problem. I’ve got a belly. I seriously went from zero to santa in under a year. Bikini season is right around the corner and I have to get this situation under control so I decided that for once in my life I was going to commit to working out. Something that I swore I would never, ever do.
Getting Started
Once I decided that I was going to get this done, I wanted to go shopping to get some cute workout clothes. I have a confession to make. I’ve never really owned workout clothes. The closest I’ve been to workout clothes were yoga pants and I haven’t had a pair of those in a long time. I got some super cute leggings from Khol’s and my first ever sports bra from Victoria’s Secret.
I already had a yoga mat and I’m not doing weights yet but I do have some small ones somewhere in my house so I didn’t have to buy any of those. I feel way more motivated now that I have some cute stuff.
My First workout
Aside from some basic stretches and some yoga poses as a warm-up I went straight for a workout that was going to work my core and flatten my stomach. I found Chloe Ting’s 10 minute core workout and loved it so I decided that I’m going to do it for 30 days and check the results. I’m sharing it here because it is awesome and you should definitely check it out if you are interested.
