The ultimate guide to morning routines
How do you spend the very first our of your day? Hitting snooze? Scrolling on your phone? Rushing to get out the door so you aren’t late to work?
The first hour of your day is arguably the most important hour because it truly sets the tone for everything else that happens that day.
We can all agree that having bad mornings will most definitely put us in a not so good mood.
I am a morning person, but I realized that I’m really good at wasting my mornings and then feeling guilty about it.
I used to be the girl who spent at least an hour scrolling on tik tok.
When I finally got out of bed and realized how much time I wasted, It would leave me feeling disappointed in myself and overall not in a good mood to start the day.
Even when I started a morning routine, I wasn’t consistent and I eventually gave up.
It took me quite some time to figure out just how to make my mornings better, and today I’m sharing everything with you.
In today’s post I’m going to be sharing
- Why you need a morning routine
- The morning routine mistake you are probably making
- 6 different morning routine ideas to start your day
Why you should have a morning routine.
Morning routines are good for your mental health
I am a huge advocate for prioritizing mental health, so it’s no surprise that I’m mentioning the mental health benefits to having a morning routine.
Having a morning routine reduces stress because you have more time to wake up, get ready, and prepare yourself for the day ahead.
You get better nutrition because you wake up in time to prepare yourself a healthy breakfast instead of grabbing something to rake out the door-or worse…stopping for fast food.
If you decided to work out in the morning, your body releases endorphins, which is that natural high I was talking about.
Morning routines will boost your energy and make you feel ready for the day.
Following a morning routine makes me ten times more productive in the mornings. This results in an overall feeling of happiness and accomplishment. Before morning routines I used to spend an hour scrolling on my phone. Now my mornings look much different and I couldn’t be happier.
The one morning routine mistake you are probably making…
When I first decided to have a better morning routine, I decided what I wanted to do in the mornings and set it in store. This would be my morning routine. I wanted to work out, do some language learning, check into my budgeting app. I wanted to do it all.
Some mornings I was successful. And when I did manage to complete all of those things, I felt really accomplished and ready for the day.
But it didn’t last long.
I quickly realized that doing these things every single morning wasn’t going to work for me.
Why is that?
Because as women, our energy levels fluctuate over the course of the month. I didn’t learn much about this until I discovered the art of cycle syncing and living life in harmony with your menstrual cycle.
It is simply impossible for me to wake up every single day and have the same energy I had the day before. What about the nights that I got less sleep? What about the weeks where I worked more hours and felt more tired?
Having just one morning routine isn’t sustainable.
The secret to incredible mornings? Having multiple morning routines
If you find that you fall off of your morning routines because you struggle to maintain the same morning routine every single day, then you need multiple morning routines.
Having multiple morning routines will ensure that you have a plan for each morning, no matter what your energy levels are.
6 Different morning routines to try
1.The high energy routine
This routine is designed for those high energy mornings. You got plenty of sleep, the weather is perfect, you are in a wonderful mood and you can’t wait to get up and start your day. During the energy routine you are doing things that charge you for the day and promote high energy.
2.The low energy routine
This routine is the opposite of the high energy routine. This routine is for when you feel more exhausted than you did before you went to bed and you have absolutely zero energy to begin your day. This is when you are to be kind to yourself and not expect too much.
Trying to do something that your body doesn’t have the energy for is going to be counterproductive.
3.The happiness routine
This morning routine is one of my favorites. It is specifically to start your day off being the happiest you can possibly be. Everything that you do in this routine will increase your happiness levels, make you laugh, and make you feel like you are walking on sunshine.
4.The Zen routine.
This routine is designed to give you a sense of calm before you start your day. Perhaps you already know that it’s going to be a bit of a chaotic day and you want to start off on a good note by calming your mind and not stressing about it.
Perhaps you have a lot of things going on in your life in general and you have been feeling stressed out. You would use a Zen morning routine to ease your mind
5.The productive morning routine
This routine is great if you feel like you have a lot of little things to do that you haven’t done in a while. Hopefully you’ve been keeping a list of all of those things so that when you wake up in the morning you know exactly what you should be doing.
This routing helps you cross off a lot of things on your to-to list that you’ve been putting off. It gives you a tremendous sense of accomplishment and puts you in a good mood for the day.
6.The slow morning routine
This routine is very similar to the Zen morning routine, except we aren’t going to focus as much on calm as we do for Zen. This routine focuses on waking up and not rushing to immediately do something. Relaxing and giving your body time to adjust. This is also a great low energy routine because.
The bottom line
If you are struggling with low energy and productivity throughout the day, chances are you need to create a proper morning routine.
A good morning routine will leave you feeling energized, less stress, more productive, and will set the tone for you the rest of the day.
