A very busy (but romantic) fall
Autumn is my favorite season. I love everything about it. In fact, yesterday I saw some leaves dancing in the wind and it was the most magical little thing. Every year I share all of my favorite tips and ways to have the most beautiful Autumn season. But I am back at work for the Holidays and I have been working SO many hours! I have very little time to actually get anything done on my list.
Even so, I have been squeezing things into my life whenever I have the time, and because of that I have been able to really enjoy October thusfar. Today is the 20th, which means we are over halfway through the month.
Where I live, we have not reached peak foliage yet and I am patiently waiting. With my seasonal job in retail, I do not have a set schedule. Every week is different which makes it incredibly difficult to plan things not only for myself, but with other people as well. I have to use the free time I have to do the things that I want.
I know that many of my readers have busy lives as well. You probably work all the time and go to school, maybe you are raising kids. It can be incredibly difficult to do all of the things on your list when you are so busy with life.
Today I want to share with you the ways that I have romanticized this season in the little pockets of time that I have available.

1.I’ve been lighting all of my fall candles.
I know this sounds like the simplest of things, but I actually am not the best at lighting my candles. I buy them regularly and then I don’t really use them that much. In fact, I was in my closet the other day and found a hot cocoa and cream candle from last winter that still has a lot of life left in it. It’s because I didn’t light it as often as I should.
Now when I wake up in the morning, I light a candle. I let it burn while I am getting ready for work. I also light them when I am downstairs watching tv with my family. I basically light them all the time and it gives my house the cozy fall feeling that I’m after.
I even light them in the bathroom about 10 minutes before I get in the shower, that way when I get out my bathroom smells amazing. I also gave myself a goal to burn all of my fall candles by the end of the season. This way, they are getting used.
2. Listening to fall music is one of the easiest ways to romanticize fall
Again, this seems simple, but a lot of the time I am more drawn to my regular playlists and sometimes only use the seasonal playlist for a couple of days. This month I have been listening to my fall music every time I get in the car as well as when I am cooking and cleaning. It puts me in the fall cozy mood and I love it!
3.Planning a photo day with my friends even thought it was a disaster
Two of the ladies in my friend group had babies 2 weeks apart. We all got together in the group chat and chose a day to take fall photos at the pumpkin patch. I had mentioned that I wanted cute fall pics and we decided on a friday afternoon.
It was a disaster
We had been watching the weather and there was a chance of a storm, but in Virginia the weather is very hit or miss. We did our hair and makeup and went to the farmers market anyway. It was very windy as the storm was rolling in and then it started pouring rain. Let’s just say it did not turn out the way we planned. After the storm there was a rainbow, but we did not get the quality of photos that we wanted. And as I’m writing this post, the weather is absolutely PERFECT!

Look at that wind!!
We tried our best and I don’t know if we will have that opportunity again but it was definitely a day we will laugh about later.
4.Dressing my bunnies up in costumes.
I am a bunny mom. I have 2 rabbits that I love very, very much. Typically rabbits don’t enjoy being picked up because they are prey animals. However, we do have to pick them up occasionally to brush them, cut their nails, and take them to the vet. I decided to get costumes for them and wait until it was time to cut their nails to put them on.
We took them outside yesterday to brush them and trim their nails. They love being outside when it is chilly. I dressed them up for about 3 minutes and took a couple of pictures. I love them so much and this was so much fun for me.

5.Reading all of the fall books
I have had the BEST reading month! I’m only reading books about ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and anything of that nature. I have been flying through books and loving each and every one of them. I try my best to read according to the season or holiday and this is the first month in a long time that I have really stayed on theme. I will write a blog post about all of these books as soon as the month is over. They are definitely must reads!

6.Made recipes from my list
I have a lot of recipes saved on Tik Tok that I wanted to try this month. I somehow managed to have the entire day off on Sunday the 18, so I went shopping the day before and purchased all of the ingredients. I stayed home all day Sunday cooking delicious food and then watching the Victoria’s Secret fashion show (which I’m obsessed with)

7.Walked around downtown and enjoyed all of the Halloween decor
Even though I don’t completely love where I live, we do have a really cute downtown area. In the fall and winter the stores and houses do an amazing job decorating. At the beginning of October I had a couple of hours in the morning before I had to go to work, so my husband and I took a walk downtown. We enjoyed the falling leaves and stopped by my two favorite local bookstores. Followed by lunch outside in the walking mall.
8. Having my lunch break in the car
On beautiful fall days, I definitely don’t want to spend my 30 minute lunch break in the windowless break room. I want to be in my car with the windows down enjoying the breeze. It makes a big difference in your work day when you actually leave the building, even if it is only for a little bit.
It makes you feel a little more refreshed and ready for the second half of your shift.
Final thoughts
I actually haven’t done anything extravagant this season and I still feel like I have had a lovely month so far. I know that I share lists and others as well with all of these seasonal things, and as much as I wish I could do them all, sometimes life gets in the way and it’s just not possible.
I hope this post encourages you to do what you can, when you can. Don’t let this month pass you by!
