Camp social 101: Women’s only summer camp
I spent the weekend at Camp Social, and let me just say—what an experience! I honestly don’t even know where to begin because there’s so much to share. First things first: I had the time of my life. Camp not only lived up to my expectations, it surpassed them, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Today I’m sharing all the details about my lovely experience.

The Location
Camp social is held in the Poconos, Pennsylvania. It was only a 4 and a half hour drive from my house. Many women flew in from across the country and some were on the bus from NYC.
The Grounds
The setting was nothing short of magical. Camp is hosted at IHC, a true summer camp that usually runs for seven weeks and caters to families who can certainly afford the finer things.

From the moment I arrived, it felt like stepping into a movie. Friendly faces greeted us with signs, and then suddenly—the lake, the lodge, the sweeping views—it all came into sight. I instantly felt like a kid arriving for camp for the very first time.

At night, the walking paths to the cabins were softly lit, giving everything a dreamy glow. The bunks themselves were surprisingly lovely—clean, cozy, and somehow bug-free (seriously, we were all baffled by the lack of mosquitoes!). My camera got quite the workout because every corner was photo-worthy.

The woods were lush and enchanting, and during one of our morning hikes, we stumbled across a carpet of moss so soft it felt like nature rolled out a green velvet rug just for us. I don’t think I’ve ever walked across that much moss in my life—it was pure magic underfoot.

My Cabin
Naturally, the very first thing I did upon arriving was head straight to my cabin to settle in. That’s where I met Carlie—who instantly stood out. She was chatty & full of energy, just what I needed for the first moments at camp.
As the day went on, we strolled around and eventually met the rest of the girls who’d be sharing our space. And honestly? Something about our cabin just clicked. Every single person was incredible, and somehow we all meshed together effortlessly.

The cabin quickly became our little hub of joy. Mornings and late nights were spent talking, laughing, and sharing stories—sometimes while getting ready for dinner, sometimes when we should’ve been sleeping.

It was such a treat to meet this group of women. Everyone came from different backgrounds and careers, but together we created the coziest, happiest little community for the weekend.
The Activities
One of the best parts about Camp Social is the sheer variety of activities available throughout the day. The mornings were designed to set the tone—whether you wanted to move your body, quiet your mind, or embrace a challenge. Options included:

- Hiking through the woods
- Cold plunges for the brave
- Pilates and yoga
- Journaling and meditation
- Sound baths
- Morning runs
…and probably a few more I’ve already forgotten. I personally tried the sound bath on Friday and a hike on Saturday, and both were amazing. The sound bath, especially, was an entirely new experience for me—completely immersive and calming in a way I hadn’t expected.
Afternoons were all about play and adventure, with plenty of water sports and classic camp-style fun:
- Tubing and water slides
- Pool time
- Stand-up paddleboard yoga
- Kayaking and paddleboarding
- Rock climbing and rope courses
- Archery (for those far more talented than me!)

The list truly went on. Some activities drew long lines, but the atmosphere made it all worth it. Archery, however, was a humbling experience—I waited 20 minutes, only to discover that I was hilariously bad at it. Still, it was fun to try, and let’s just say… I’d need a lot more practice before hitting anything other than the dirt.
Saturday brought a pool party that was pure fun. My friends and I decided to skip the Camp Olympics (the heat was intense) and opted instead for swimming and sun.
The water was a little too chilly for my taste, but lounging poolside with new friends, soaking up the sunshine, and coming away with a golden tan felt like the perfect way to spend the afternoon.
Evening Activities
The nights at Camp Social were just as magical as the days, each one with its own kind of charm. On Friday, the barn came alive with music and a lip sync battle that had everyone laughing and cheering.
I chose a quieter path—curling up by the fire, roasting marshmallows, and indulging in gooey s’mores. After all, what’s summer camp without that quintessential treat?

That evening, camp turned into a starlit cinema with an outdoor screening of The Parent Trap—a forever favorite of mine. I’ve adored that movie since childhood, and watching it under the night sky surrounded by fellow campers felt extra special.

To top it all off, there was a full popcorn and candy bar stocked with every sweet imaginable. It was camp nostalgia and summer magic all rolled into one.
The Food
Where do I begin with the food? It was absolutely incredible! There were an abundance of options at every meal, and plenty of snacks in between meals.

Everything was served buffet style of course, and the chefs did an incredible job of paying attention to every detail with the food. There were multiple options at every meal as well as gluten free meals as well.

My favorite meals were breakfast. On day 1 we had Pancakes and day 2 we had waffles. Both were delicious and the food was definitely one of my favorite parts of the camp experience.
There were also snacks in between meals. Cocktail hour on the first night with the most beautiful charcuterie spread to exist, milk and cookies when we first arrived, late night snacks and more.

Friendships
Without a doubt, the very best part of Camp Social was the people. By the time I even left camp, our cabin already had a group chat buzzing with messages.
We’ve started making plans to send each other birthday cards, and future trip ideas are already in the works—complete with Google forms circulating to gather dates, destinations, and everyone’s special days. It feels like camp may have ended, but our little community is only just beginning.

Beyond our cabin crew, there’s also a camp-wide chat on the BCC app that keeps all the women connected. Even better, there are state-specific subgroups so you can easily find campers who live nearby.
The connections sparked at Camp Social are unlike anything else—genuine, lasting, and such a beautiful reminder that friendship doesn’t have an age limit
Should you go to camp?
The answer is a resounding YES! Even if you don’t get to go to camp social, I encourage you to try activities that are designed to help women create connections.
Between the dreamy grounds, the endless activities, the cozy cabin laughs, and the new friendships, every part of the experience left me feeling refreshed and inspired.
I had the time of my life at Camp Social and I’m already counting down the days until next year.
