5 lovely things I did in April

April is such an unstable month. I’m talking about the weather. There are days where it is snowing like crazy and days where you can go outside in shorts and a t-shirt. Nevertheless, I had a lovely month so I’m doing my April recap today!

I Made my first IG reel

I’m not one to get caught up in all of the social media trends. There are so many that it’s hard to keep up. Lip syncing and dancing for social media just isn’t something that I am interested in.

But one night I was on IG and I came across a reel with audio from Spongebob. I loved Spongebob growing up. I have great memories watching the show, plus this reel was all about doing an outfit change. No singing or dancing required.

So, I decided to give it a try. Doing a transition was harder than I thought because once you move the phone it is hard to get it back in the same position as it was before. I didn’t have the best transition, but I really don’t care.

It was a fun way to be creative but I absolutely don’t know how people make reels regularly, it’s actually a lot of work. Especially when you are doing outfit changes and other such things. Still a lot of fun and my kids helped me so it was a fun thing we could all do together.

Collected my first sunset of the season

I love sunsets so much. Every summer on my bucket list, I always make sure to add ‘collect sunsets’ to that list. Sunsets are just mesmerizing to me and watching a sunset reminds me to slow down and appreciate the little moments in life.

I caught this sunset at the very end of the month so it still counts for April. It was absolutely beautiful.

I made funnel cake

I know this might sound crazy to my readers who live in the US, but I never had funnel cake growing up…ever. I didn’t even really know what it was. Everyone I know had funnel cake at carnivals and amusement parks but I never had that experience.

My first funnel cake was 2 years ago at a local ice cream shop. It was good because they served it with ice cream and chocolate fudge. I don’t know if I would like to eat it just plain with powdered sugar.

When season 5 of Selling Sunset was released on Netflix, I decided to make myself a fun dessert to eat while I was watching. Making funnel cake was super easy and it tasted so good. It was definitely different from any other dessert I’ve made in the past.

I also continued to work on the visual food menu that I am creating for my house. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, you can read all about it in this post. I love creating a menu because it is good for my creativity and I know I will appreciate it in the years to come.

Went for the most beautiful hike with my best friends

At the beginning of the year, my friends and I all got in the group chat and made a list of things that we wanted to do together in 2022. Normally we just go to lunch or dinner, but we wanted to get outside of that comfort zone this year.

I’m so happy we did because so far we have gone ice skating and hiking. Our other activities were canceled for one reason or another but luckily we were able to go hiking.

We went to this ‘enchanted forest’ as I like to call it. There was a waterfall, the bluebells were in bloom, and the weather was perfect!

I read an incredible book

I don’t read memoirs very often, but after watching How to get away with Murder last year in October, I fell in love with Viola Davis. She is a powerhouse and I love her energy. When I found out she was writing a memoir I was excited.

I was even more excited to find out that she had a sit down with Oprah on Netflix to talk about said book. It is called Finding Me and purchased it on Audible the day it was released.

Little did I know…

This book was going to take me for a ride.

I read a fair amount of books, but this book had me experiencing all of the emotions. I was happy, sad, devastated, hopeless, proud, excited, and everything in between. I’m pretty sure I cried once or twice as well.

This book taught me how strong we are as people, how life will test us and that we are capable of overcoming the storms that we get caught in. It taught me to have hope and it also made me grateful for everything I have right now, because there are some people in the world who want the life that I am living.

I cannot recommend this book enough. I think everyone should read it. Very powerful read.

Final thoughts

This month was a lot slower than other months. I think it had a lot to do with the weather. I was also experiencing extreme fatigue for half of the month so I’m sure that was a factor too. I’m sure May will be a lot more exciting!
