My Summer 2018 Recap
Summer Recap 2018
Hello, Beautiful!
I’m so excited you are spending time with me today. If you are new here, my name is Victoria and I would love for your to get to know me better before you leave and follow me on Instagram, and Twitter.
At the beginning of summer I decided to make a bucket list. I always have tons of things that I want to get done, but keeping a list is one of the best ways to make sure I remember to do them all. I did an awesome job keeping track this summer! Today is the first day of Fall, and I honestly can’t believe that 2018 is almost over! Anyways, enough of my rambling. Here is my Summer recap.
Everybody’s summer goals are different, and this summer I plan on staying local and doing lots of fun things at home with my family.
1. Visit the Lavender Farm
I went last weekend and it was amazing! you can read all about Blooming Hill Lavender Farm here.
2. Go to the pool.
The girls and I spent as much time at the pool as we could. By the time my summer job ends, the pool will likely be closing or they will decrease their hours of operation. I’m disappointed that I didn’t have more time at the pool because I love swimming so much. Next year we will go all the time.
3. Chase sunsets.
I have already been lucky enough to chase a couple of incredible sunsets on our hikes and I can’t wait to add new sunsets to my collection.
I didn’t get to chase as many sunsets as I wanted to. We did get to go to our favorite hiking spot for sunset and it was dreamy. People go there every evening to sit and watch the sunset. I’ve never done it before and I was so happy I did. It was a beautiful experience.
4. Chase rainbows.
I don’t know what it is about my house, but it is the absolute perfect rainbow spot. If it rains in the summertime, usually there is a rainbow.
It has been one of my favorite things about where I live. I love rainbows because they give me so much joy.
5. Stargazing
I have tried stargazing last summer and I wasn’t very successful. I am going to step my game up this year and I’ll let you know how it goes.
**Update: We didn’t get to go stargazing. The one night that we had planned to go to a star party, it was super cloudy. After getting our microscope, we decided to get a telescope sometime soon and we will start having some real stargazing sessions.
6. Visit the beach.
Even though I don’t think I will make it to Myrtle Beach this year, I still plan on visiting a beach sometimes this summer. There are several that aren’t too far from me and the girls love to play in the sand and water.
**Update: I didn’t make it to the beach. Terrible.
7. Pick sunflowers and wildflowers
This one is tricky because 2 years ago I went flower picking and you guys it was SO freaking hot! I was absolutely miserable and it was not a pleasant experience. The flowers were pretty once I got them home but the heat was making it hard to enjoy so I think I am going to try and go on a cloudy day this year.
I was able to pick sunflowers! You can read all about it here!
8. Eat dinner outside
There are lots of cute restaurants in downtown Winchester that I want to check out. They have cute outdoor patios so I’ll be checking those out.
**Update: We did get to eat dinner outside! Actually it was lunch, but it was amazing! We had lunch at this awesome restaurant in New York while we were on our wedding trip! It was delicious.
9. Pick up my wedding dress.
This is SO exciting! I’m pretty sure my dress will be completed before summer is over, and I will be road tripping with my besties to Teaneck, NJ to pick up the dress because I am just too anxious to have it in the mail.
OMG! So I picked up my Wedding Dress and it is absolutely the most beautiful dress I have ever seen! Of course I might be just a little bit biased! We had the most incredible wedding day! Read all about it!
10. Have a water balloon fight.
This is one of my favorite memories as a kid. I hope to get some water balloons this weekend. It’s supposed to get very hot.
**Update: Didn’t happen. We did play with the water hose a lot though and that kept the kids plenty busy.
11. Get Ice cream from the local shops
There’s an ice cream shop one minute from my house that has been around for decades. It’s been rumored to be the best ice cream in town and we went there once last summer. The girls have been asking to go back.
**Update: We got some ice cream from a local shop right by our house, my anxiety was annoying me that day, so I didn’t take pictures. It was yummy though.
12. Go on more hiking trips
I have found peace in the outdoors with hiking. I have been to some awesome trails in the spring and plan on hiking a lot more in the summer.
**Update: We went on a couple of hiking trips, but it was much too hot to go crazy. We will do a lot more this fall!
13. Visit a car show
When I was a kid my dad used to take us to look at cars anytime he got the chance. There would always be local car shows every friday and I remember it like it was yesterday. I really hope I make it to one this year!
I was so excited when I found out there was a car show only 1 minute from my house and luckily I was able to make it! I’m so happy!
Even though we did some fun things here and there, I honestly didn’t have a good summer at all. I was battling anxiety a lot and I think it got the best of me. My wedding trip really got me out of my funk and put me in the right mindset for fall.
