The 5 AM Club: How to Become a Woman Who Gets Things Done Before 9 AM

I have some unfortunate news for you today. Waking up early in the morning and getting things done before 9am is extremely beneficial.

Over the past few months, I have been struggling with feeling like my days are being wasted. I wake up late, scroll before I get up, go to work and then have to do all of the things on my to do list at the end of the day. I would often forget things and wake up disappointed the next day.

Then, I went back to work at Victoria’s Secret and I now I have even less time in my day to get things done. It quickly became a struggle to make sure I was working out, prepping meals, practicing French, paying the bills, cleaning the house, etc.

So, I did what I didn’t think I would do. I set my alarm for 5am one day. Did I actually get out of bed right at 5? No. I paid some bills, went over my to do list, and maybe scrolled a little bit. The next time? I got up and did some tidying in my room, as well as got some laundry done before I went to work.

Now, I am able to do all of my most exhausting tasks in the mornings. I’ve started working out in the mornings before I go in to work, so the hardest part of my day is done before I even clock in.

This post is for the ladies who are struggling to find the time to do all of the things, and are wishing there were more hours in a day.

Your solution? 5am club.

Waking up at 5 AM isn’t about becoming a productivity machine or filling every minute of your day with chores. It’s about creating space for the things you keep saying you’ll get around to doing. Whether you want to become healthier, smarter, more organized, or simply feel more in control of your life, your mornings can become your secret weapon.

Here’s how to become a woman who gets things done before 9 AM.

5 am

1. Give Yourself a Reason to Wake Up at 5 AM

Before setting your alarm, decide what you’re actually waking up for. Getting out of bed at an unreasonable hour just to sit around scrolling your phone isn’t exactly life-changing.

Think about the woman you’re trying to become. Maybe you want to read more books, learn French, develop a new hobby, improve your fitness, or finally start that personal project you’ve been putting off.

Your mornings should reflect those ambitions.

Instead of treating your early hours as extra time to catch up on household chores, think of them as an appointment with yourself. This is your opportunity to invest in your mind, body, interests, and future.

2. Create Your Perfect 5 AM Morning Routine

A successful 5am club routine doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, the simpler it is, the easier it becomes to maintain.

Here’s an example of how to organize your morning:

  • 5:00 AM – Wake up: Make your bed, open the curtains, drink some water, and enjoy a quiet moment before the day begins.
  • 5:30 AM – Move your body: Do Pilates, strength training, stretching, or take a walk.
  • 6:00 AM – Personal development: Read a book, study a language, journal, or work through an online course.
  • 7:00 AM – Get ready: Shower, complete your skincare routine, do your hair, and get dressed.
  • 8:00 AM – Prepare for the day: Eat breakfast, review your calendar, and organize your priorities.

By the time 9 AM arrives, you’ve already exercised, invested in yourself, and prepared for the day ahead.

Of course, adjust this schedule to your work hours and responsibilities. You don’t need four hours to have a meaningful morning.

3. 25 Things to Do at 5 AM Besides Scrolling Your Phone

One of the best things about joining the 5am club is having uninterrupted time to explore your interests. You don’t have to spend every morning being productive in the traditional sense. You can use this time to become a more interesting, well-rounded woman.

Here are some ideas:

For your mind:

  • Read 20 pages of a book.
  • Study a foreign language.
  • Listen to an educational podcast.
  • Learn about art, history, or philosophy.
  • Write in a journal.

For your body:

  • Complete a Pilates workout.
  • Go for a morning walk.
  • Stretch for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare a nourishing breakfast.
  • Follow a consistent skincare routine.

For your dream life:

  • Work on a side business.
  • Start a creative hobby.
  • Plan a future vacation.
  • Work on a personal project.
  • Create a vision board.

For your elegant era:

  • Practice conversational skills.
  • Learn something about etiquette.
  • Read classic literature.
  • Write handwritten letters.
  • Plan your outfits for the week.

Imagine how much you could accomplish if you dedicated just 30 minutes every morning to something you’ve always wanted to learn.

4. Make Your Mornings Something to Look Forward To

Let’s be honest: waking up at 5 AM doesn’t sound particularly appealing when it’s dark, cold, and your bed is incredibly comfortable.

This is why you should romanticize your mornings a little.

Create an atmosphere that makes getting up feel special. Put on a pretty morning playlist, make your favorite coffee, light a candle while you journal, or enjoy breakfast without looking at your phone.

Keep a book on your nightstand that you’re excited to read. Set out your favorite workout clothes. Use a beautiful journal to plan your day.

Your morning routine doesn’t need to look like a perfectly curated Pinterest photograph, but it should include little things that make you happy.

5. Your 5 AM Morning Actually Starts the Night Before

Here’s a secret: successful early mornings are created the evening before.

If you’re going to wake up at 5 AM, you need to make sleep a priority. Waking up early while getting only five hours of sleep isn’t a sustainable productivity strategy.

Start by establishing a consistent bedtime that allows you to get enough rest. Prepare your clothes, organize your workspace, and decide what you’ll accomplish the following morning.

You can even write down your three most important priorities before going to bed.

The less decision-making you have to do when you wake up, the easier it becomes to get started.

6. Try the 30-Day 5 AM Club Challenge

If you’re ready to change your mornings, try committing to 30 days of intentional routines.

During the first week, focus on establishing a consistent bedtime and wake-up time. During the second week, introduce movement and wellness habits. In the third week, add reading, studying, or another personal development activity. By the fourth week, you’ll have a routine that supports the life you’re trying to build.

Don’t worry about making every morning perfect. Some mornings will be easier than others, and that’s completely normal.

If 5 AM isn’t compatible with your sleep needs or schedule, choose a later wake-up time. The goal is consistency, not exhaustion.

Become a Woman Who Makes Time for Herself

The 5am club isn’t really about waking up at a specific time. It’s about deciding that your personal goals deserve a place in your everyday life.

You don’t need to wait until you have more free time, a different job, or a completely different schedule to start becoming the woman you want to be.

You can begin with a book, a morning walk, a new hobby, or 20 minutes dedicated to learning something interesting.

Give yourself the time, create the routine, and start building a life you actually look forward to waking up for.
