Social media accounts to follow for personal growth and elegance

Hi and welcome to Gorgeous Life Blog. If you are a returning visitor, welcome back. Today I want to share my all time favorite social accounts that will boost personal growth, spark creativity, and inspire you to become a better person.

The problem with people and social media

The internet has put everything at our fingertips at any given moment. It allows us to connect with people all over the world and gives us access to all the information we will ever want.

Over the years, many people have become addicted to social media. Currently in 2020, people spend about 2 hours or more on social media each day. For me, the time is much, much higher.

My iphone recordes my daily average screen time at about 7 hours! And honestly I know people who have an average screen time of 9 hours or even more.

Many people acknowledge that they have too much screen time and it isn’t healthy for them. And honestly, I have to agree that 2 hours is way too long to be on social media.

But what if instead of lowering our screen time, we change the type of content we consume online?

The power of good content

There are hundreds of millions of social accounts that do nothing for our mind. And oftentimes, we get sucked into them because they are entertaining. But there are so many incredible accounts that inspire us to be better, accounts that can expand our knowledge, and spark creativity.

Do you want to know what my guilty pleasure was before I changed my social media habits?

Don’t judge me.

  • Gossip channels
  • Jerry Springer and Maury *cringe*
  • Reality TV clips and show recaps
  • Political commentary and the news
  • …need I say more.

You can imagine what these incredibly toxic, neuron killing shows did to my mind. In fact, I can say without a doubt that changing the content I consumed is directly attributed to my incredible mindset change.

When I set out to reshape my mindset, become better and more elegant, and spark some creativity, I made an extraordinary change to the type of content that I consumed daily.

I have fallen in love with each and every account that I am about to list for you and I feel ten times more inspired, uplifted, and creatively driven since I have started consuming this type of content.

I also immediately unfollowed each and every toxic social media account, youtube channel, and unsubscribed to all emails that didn’t feed my soul in a positive way. I made the necessary replacements and the results were mind blowing.

I am going to list these in no particular order really, I just want to get them out to you. I will probably be updating this list periodically as I discover new accounts.

Youtube

Enes Yilmazer

Enes does incredible mansion tours. I don’t ever want to have a 12 million dollar mansion, but I do love house tours. Architecture and design really inspires me. I actually did take some interior design college courses many years ago.

Aside from the creative aspect, I find these videos inspire me to work hard, save and invest my money, and purchase my dream house one day.  The link I’m sharing here is to my favorite house tour so far.

Lavendaire // Aileen Xu

Aileen Xu is a personal development content creator who runs the channel Lavendaire channel on youtube. Her channel is just good vibes all around and there is so much to learn from her videos. Her voice is also very calming and relaxing in my opinion. She recently posted a guided meditation as well which I highly recommend checking out.

Freddy My Love

If you are focusing on becoming classier, more elegant and feminine, and upping your wardrobe, I definitely recommend Freddy My Love. This channel is just so girly and whimsical.

Kerina Wang

If you need help creating classy outfits, Kerina Wang is the one to watch. She does all types of outfits but you can certainly get a lot of cute, feminine, classy, and elegant outfit ideas from her.

Ted X

If you haven’t heard of Ted Talks or if you don’t really watch them very often, you should incorporate one or two Ted Talks into your weekly routine. Hearing other peoples experiences and perspectives on life is an easy way to expand you mindset a little bit from the comfort of your own home. This Ted Talk was one of the many things that inspired my husband and I to start out early retirement journey.

Our Rich Journey

Speaking of Early Retirement, Our Rich Journey is an incredible YouTube channel that teaches you how to retire early. Even if early retirement isn’t your life plan, you can still get some serious personal finance lessons from them and learn how to invest and save your money.

Alux

Alux refers to themselves as ‘The place where future billionaires come to get inspired.’ I love Alux because it really opens my eyes to the realm of the super rich and how to make decisions in life that are going to benefit me in the future.

Instagram

Pilot Madeline

If you want some serious travel inspiration, this is one of the best accounts you could follow. Madeleine has a tremendous amount of extraordinary adventures that will inspire you to create a travel bucket list that is out of this world. She has posts, and story highlights that make you feel like you are right there with her. I spent a lot of time getting lost in her posts during quarantine and I’ve been addicted to her instagram feed ever since.

Rava Ray

Rava is an absolute goddess of the sea. She Lives in Tahiti on an island and spends most of her life in the ocean swimming with sharks and stingrays. She also manages to get incredible photographs of her journey. Her IG makes me think about a life completely different from mine. I imagine not living in the hustle and bustle fast paced life of the U.S. and being connected with nature and the earth in the deepest of ways.

Myka Meier

If modern elegance is what you are working towards, it is imperative that you follow the queen of etiquette, Myka Meier. She teached women how to be elegant and graceful by using good etiquette and she always has wonderful tips for etiquette in daily life.

The Planty Dropper

I discovered Taylor’s IG account because I watched a show on netflix where people had to create sculptures with flowers and she was one of the contestants on the show. Her feed is so beautiful and filled with plants. It makes me feel at peace and gives me inspiration for my indoor plants that I plan on getting some day.

Luxury Woman Life

Al though I will be the first person to tell you that having money, eating at expensive restaurants, and dressing a certain way does not necessarily mean you are elegant (it’s all about how you feel on the inside). This account inspires me to travel more, dress like a high class woman, and have more high class experiences.
