Books that will change your money mindset forever
Once upon a time…
There was a young mum who didn’t know anything about money.
Every month she found herself struggling to pay her bills.
She often had to put items back when she was at the grocery store because she couldn’t afford them.
She feared her life would be like this forever.
Until one day…
She decided she didn’t want to struggle with money for the rest of her life.
And she did the only thing she could afford to do at the time.
She visited the library and borrowed a book about money.
And her life has never been the same.
Why are children being raised with no financial education?
I wasn’t given any real financial education growing up. All I ever heard was save your money. I was never taught how to save money or how to become financially stable.
I never learned about retirement accounts or anything like that. I had my first daughter when I was 19, so you can imagine how hard life was back then.
I suffered through my 20’s and it was hard.
But my life would have been much easier if I was taught about finances when I was younger.
At the end of my 20’s I went through a major financial transformation. I was tired of being broke and I knew that in order to get results I needed to change my entire life.
I started my financial transformation with reading books. Without these books that I am going to share with you I would never have been motivated to change my financial situation and I would’ve never had the knowledge on what to do.
So here are the books that will change your money mindset forever, and get you on the path to saving money, investing money, and building wealth.
1. Your are a badass at making money – Jen Sincero
This book doesn’t give you any instructions on how to get rich. It helps you to transform your relationship with money.
When I was a kid I had everything I needed but I definitely don’t come from money. In fact, I was used to hearing we can’t afford it a lot.
There is nothing wrong with that. I had a beautiful, happy childhood. But then I grew up and realized that I needed to do more for myself If I wanted to break the cycle for myself and my kids.
If you grew up without a lot of money, you have a different mindset than someone who has a well off family. You might have an unhealthy relationship with money.
This book will help you heal your relationship with money and see that there is an abundance of money in the world and plenty of that money is for you.
It gave me so much motivation and helped me understand that even though I didn’t grow up with lots of money that I can always change my financial circumstance.
I absolutely loved this book and I re read it a lot when I need some money motivation.
2. The automatic millionaire by David Bach
This book opened my eyes to a world of saving money automatically. What I always heard when I was younger was to put your money into a savings account.
But when I got my paycheck there were always so many things that I needed to pay for and before I knew it my money was gone.
This book teaches you how to set up an automatic system for saving money. This works for most people especially these days when everything is done online.
It makes saving money easier than I ever knew it could be.
I highly recommend this book if you are a beginner at getting your finances in order. It is also great if you are looking for a new way to manage your money.
It’s a quick and easy read that really shifted my perspective on saving money and I was able to implement the lessons in the book immediately.
3. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
I know that this book is on every single list of must read personal finance books. I’m sure you’ve heard of this book a thousand times over. I didn’t want to be repetitive and add this to my list as well…
But I have to add it to my list because this book was another major mindset shifting book for me. There is a reason why it’s so popular. It’s because it is life changing information for people who were not raised in a wealthy family.
I didn’t learn about real estate investing, taxes, or building wealth when I was younger so all of the information in this book was new to me.
This book unlocked a new path for my life and helped me discover possibilities that I never even dreamed of.
4. Total money makeover by Dave Ramsey
This books is great if you agree with the Dave Ramsey approach to finances. If you don’t know much about Dave Ramsey, he teaches people how to become debt free by using the snowball and other methods.
If you have a lot of debt and are ready to face it head on, this book is perfect for you.
