February Recap: A very romantic month

February is always a very short and sweet month, but I love this time of year because in my opinion, it is the month of love and romance. I do my best to make sure that I try to live a more romantic life in February, and this year I definitely took my own advice and added romance to my every day life! Here’s a recap of what I did!

Consumed elegant content all month long

I’m not typically a huge fan of romance movies and I don’t come across romance books very often, but I did my best to consume as much romantic content as I could.

TV/FILM

  • Bridgerton
  • Sweet Home Alabama
  • To all the boys I’ve loved before (all 3 movies)

BOOKS

I read 2 romance novels this month and honestly the first one blew me away. It’s called Neon Gods and honestly I couldn’t get enough of this book. I know romance is a difficult genre for people because steamy scenes in the book could either be loved or hated. I went to see the reviews for this book after I finished and they were basically either you loved it or you hated it. I personally loved it though.

I also found myself watching couples figure skating…

Since the winter Olympics took place this month I enjoyed watching all of the athletes. But there is something so magical and romantic about couples figure skating. It’s such a beautiful mix of feminine and masculine energies that absolutely hypnotized me.

I created a scent collection to create and trigger memories

scent collection

Last year I read an incredible book about creating happy memories. It inspired me to write a blog post about my experience with creating memories and triggering the memories in the future. One of the tips in the book explained how powerful smells are when it comes to our memory. When you smell sunscreen you think of summertime. When you smell a certain perfume you might have a certain memory.

I saved some of my perfume bottles from high school, there is only the smallest amount of perfume in each bottle, but I would always find myself smelling them whenever I wanted to remember easier days in my life.

This is what inspired me to go ahead and make a scent collection. I only have 4 scents saved so far, but I’m really excited to add more! I picked up these tiny glass bottles from my local craft store. I still need to label the bottles but I love it!

I experienced the most beautiful writing

Something that I’m slowly realizing now that I read a lot of books is how beautiful words can be. The problem with our society today is that we barely experience beautiful writing. In order to find it, you have to really be searching for it.

Most of the written content we consume during the day is designed to make us buy something, or to inform us about what is going on in the world, etc. But I discovered that if you look hard enough you can find the most beautiful writing in books.

I was so inspired by some of the books I read that I started highlighting and writing down my favorite quotes. Here are just a few of the ones that I fell in love with.

There was something inhuman about her golden hair, her pale skin, her dark eyes, her shimmering clothes. She was hard to describe in her absence, as though the mortal gaze could not retain the memory of such perfection

Even the trees would sometimes drop their branches to try and snag themselves in her hair

I listened to the most beautiful music.

I have shared this new playlist many times before, in my emails and previous blog posts. Honestly though I can’t stress enough how amazing this music is. Every time I listen I am transported to a magical place where everything is perfect. I feel like I’m in a fairytale, or some sort of heaven. If you haven’t added this playlist to your library on Spotify yet, this is another sign from the universe to do so.

I cooked a lot of amazing new food.

I love cooking and homemaking in general. Sometimes I get in these moods where I need to spruce up the menu in our house and try new recipes to add to the rotation. I spent a lot of time scrolling through Tik Tok, looking at restaurant menus, and looking on YouTube for recipe ideas. I was able to give most of the ideas a try immediately and they were a success. It was so much to try new food for the family.

Here are the s’mores pancakes I made with my kids. They were good but definitely not going to be a regular thing in my household.

I’m continuing to see incredible results from my workouts

As I count down the days until summertime, I am still working hard in the gym. Working out gives me a natural high and I love the feeling of finishing a good exercise. I have shared my fitness progress recently in my emails but basically I have lost about 9 pounds and I was fortunate enough to have lost it in the right places.

This was because I was in a caloric deficit with my meals and I target specific areas in my workouts. You can not spot treat fat loss so I did lose a little bit of weight everywhere too, but I’m excited to say that I am achieving my desired results.

I did not to get to wear my February Dress

Last month I shared that I was supposed to get dressed up and go out once per month in 2022. I loved my January dress, and I was fully planning on going out in February with my girlfriends but out plans fell through and we were unable to go. I will have to make up for this later in the year but I am definitely not giving up on my goal to get dolled up and out 12 times this year.

Can’t wait to share what I did in March!
